Belle had treated herself to a milkshake before walking in to her shift. The milkshake had treated itself to her outfit and she'd had to run back and change into something else.

Was she wearing a fancy dress right now? Yes.

Was she glaring at the gremlins who were pointing at her and giggling? Yes.

Was the library just waiting to do something messy and terrible to her and anyone who might come in? Almost certainly.

One would think Thor, who wore his armor near-exclusively, would not be impacted by the odd plague of laundry upon their island of late, but he wore fabric between the armor and his skin, and he did not keep many changes of clothing. He didn't exist half the time to wear it, anyway. So, faced with few choices, he had opted to conserve what clothing he had left and resume the tradition of shirtlessness tonight at the bar. You're welcome.

Raiden's students should have received a message telling them to meet at Portalocity, where they would find their teacher in jeans with a hole in the knee and one of the last clean shirts he'd had in the closet, which was a nice, burnt orange button down. It was a shame it was not likely to stay clean very long.

"All right, everybody, listen up," he said once he'd counted what he thought was the correct number of heads. "I'm Raiden, and this is..." He did a drumroll with his hands on the desk, which made the gnomes sigh. "The Wonderful World of Pizza! Today we're getting started by going to the birthplace of modern pizza, Naples, Italy. While there have been of course flatbreads with stuff on them since ancient times, it was in Naples that this was really refined and tomatoes were added to the mix, creating the modern pizza. At first, pizza was sold at open air stands, frequently by the slice, and it was food for the poor and working class, something you could easily pick up and eat on the go. It only really took off after it got royal approval in 1889...but that's another story. Today we're going to the oldest pizzeria in Naples, the Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba, which got its start as one of those open air stands in the 1700s before moving into a brick and mortar building during the 19th century. You can try the pizza--the Margherita is, of course, a classic, but in a port city like Naples you can't go wrong trying the seafood--and then explore the city a little, maybe pick up a pastry like a sfogliatella, another regional classic. And maybe a souvenir t-shirt or two." He would be shopping for one, because it was that or try to squeeze into the clothes Smalls had left around his place. "Sound like a plan? Let's go!"

Hobby class, today, was meeting in a generic classroom. Stark was standing at the front of the room with some books on the desk by him along with a stack of squares of colorful paper. Stark was also dressed in what could charitably be described as 'threadbare' clothing today. There were holes. He hadn't even known he still had this shirt.

“I’m Stark,” Stark said. “If you don’t know me by now. Welcome to a workshop on finding new hobbies. More new hobbies. We’ll try out something new each week and maybe find something we want to keep doing. Or not. Easy enough to never try something again after the first time.”

“I’m looking for ways to help keep myself busy.” Moreso right now than at the beginning of the summer, even. “So I thought I’d share that. I do better when I have things to do. And today’s thing to do is folding paper into shapes. It’s called origami, it’s from Japan, and it’s you make little paper sculptures.”

He held up a small paper frog. “Like this frog. It jumps.”

He demonstrated, then held up a few other shapes including tiny stars. “So, try some things out. And…I suppose we can do introductions? In case not everyone knows each other. If someone would like to start before we start folding? Or you can fold and talk. No reason not to do both.”

"Rocks," Liliana said with a sigh, perching on the edge of her desk at the front of the classroom. "I need you all to understand that everything that I'm going to describe over the next seven weeks happened because of a pair of bloody rocks. Yes, they were magical, but at the heart of all of the death, destruction, and depowering, were two brothers who couldn't share rocks. Our next six classes will skim the surface of the five most egregious failures and resultant disasters, and the one time it was still a tragedy, but it was at least an effective one. Which leaves today for providing some historical and personal background information about Urza, so you can understand a little more about the man behind the fuck-ups. This is not an attempt to get you to sympathize with him, but more so you can understand how absolutely committed this man was to ruining every facet of his life, and the lives of everyone around him."

Welcome to class! Hope you're prepared for seven weeks of Liliana ranting. Just know, should there be any tests, you could probably get by with just writing because Urza sucked, just like, so much for every question.

Let The Ranting Begin )

She gave them all a bright smile. "And that, my darlings, is plenty of background to begin understanding Urza's actions and atrocities during his lifetime. Any questions?"

Well, no, you don't wash leather.

That explains so many things that I never needed to know.

Let's see, quiet day, with the only thing happening related to the school being Shenanigans, which Jaina ran instead of Anakin, lulling the minglers and voluntolds into a false sense of security only to hit them with a very messy obstacle course. Good thing there isn't some kind of island wide issue with the laundry machines.

*chittering*

It's called foreshadowing. Jaina did stick around to take feedback on the course.

Everything was quiet in the Dorms, while over in Town, both Jon and Rey discovered that their respective apartment buildings were both having laundry machine issues. Sucks to be them.

Luma came into work that day expecting the usual quiet day bordering on boredom, where she spent just as much time shopping and browsing for herself as the customers themselves did, but what she found instead made her stop as soon as she walked through the door to stare in astonishment.

The store wasn't completely empty, but just about, with vacant shelves and lonely hangers dangling on the racks.

"What happened?" she asked, but the evidence of half the answer was scattered about everywhere, shredded and torn clothes as the result of an unexpected raccoon attack.

The rest of it? Sent back due to a safety recall. Which Luma didn't really understand, but she sighed and got ready to spend her shift bored in a different way, with cleaning up and with no clothes to actually sell.

They still had a ton of shoes and accessories, though, at least?

All things considered it was perhaps amazing that Steven arrived at work on time. But he was extra motivated, what with needing to tell Blathers the news as well as make time to nip out during Stark's class.

In the meanwhile there were things to catch up on from while he was on holiday. And if Steven happened to do more things that used his left hand than he normally would well, he was absolutely doing that. Showing off the ring at the slightest opportunity and all that.

Plus it perhaps distracted from the tea he spilled on his shirt while he was running over here.

Perhaps he could quickly run home and change before Stark's class? He'd figure something out.

Especially when there seemed to be a small obstacle course set up in the park, so.

Please stop asking me that. Just hand me the notes. I know there are plenty. Starting with the school, as usual.

The day started with Sam the eagle taking students to Even More National Parks, this time one in California with giant trees. Isabella and Aphra had a class on the beach. Oh, a class on ‘Beach’ that happened on the beach. Right. And then there was Paintball where Steve was a dog but still playing and I almost won this time but Beckett did win.

I have nothing from the dorms and the porg seems to be becoming resigned to his fate. Or at least he’s quieter about being sad now.

So now, the town. Plenty of notes from the town. Ignis had an uninterrupted shift at the diner which likely confused all of the other employees. Gladio was at the gym where the washing machines didn’t work and Nell was trying to fix them.

Remy was at Needful Things with a glowing stone of some sort that he left alone. That seems wise. Harley and her hyena came down to check on him and he told her to go to the park today. Remy. Why.

Harley took the hyena to the Perk but he wasn’t allowed in. Rey stopped to meet Bruce who is apparently a Good Boy and to talk to Harley. Pam was working with the plants in front of Pick Your Poison and Harley and Bruce also stopped in to see her and Pam invited them in for lunch.

At Caritas Kitty had a blender incident and Tino refused to put on a new shirt, I’m sorry Kitty.

*chittering*

I wasn’t leaving it out! I was just…waiting.

And in the morning. I went to take Summer to brunch and…say goodbye before she went away. For a while.

And that’s all I have. I’m done. Try to enjoy your day, everyone.

There was a hyena lounging right outside the Perk, with a big thing of water in front of him.

Bruce wasn't blocking the door, although he was probably going to be eyeing anyone who entered (or attempted to enter) with some interest. But like, just interest! Unless, you know, you decided to start openly acting threatening towards him or his Harley. So, maybe don't?

Anyway, Harley herself was inside the coffee place, ordering a giant thing of iced coffee with every possible alteration and add-in that she thought would make it the best iced coffee drink of the day, maybe even the week. Hey, she'd acquiesced to the staff's request to leave Brucey outside - even though he was the bestest boy, yes he was! - so the least they could do in return was humor her ridiculous order.

(open, if you wanna brave the hyena, who is actually a very good boy!)

It was another yard day - but not in the back. Instead, on Tuesday morning, Pam - wearing a sizable sunhat as she considered the weather - strode outside to check the pots out front of the store.

And then added a few more. Young climbing vines, that she pressed up against the facade of the building. Making it, too, come alive a little bit, rather than remaining such cold stone.

She hummed to herself as she worked, a childhood ditty that just wouldn't leave her mind.

“Good morning students! I am Sam Eagle and we shall be visiting National Parks!” Hopefully everyone had read Sam’s notice to meet outside Portalocity. If not, oh well, someone might miss out on the portal. Tsk.

“Today we shall be traveling to California to visit Redwood National Park. And perhaps the State Parks as well but those are less impressive!” That was not true because they were kind of all one park system but Sam was Sam.

“This park is home to the largest tree in the world! Named Hyperion! We will not be visiting this tree. Its location is not disclosed to protect it from people who might do it harm.” Sam needed a stronger word than weirdos for that. “But we will be seeing many impressive trees, never fear!”

“There are a number of visitor’s centers within the parks should you wish for information or to buy souvenirs. There are programs led by rangers and you are also welcome to hike or observe wildlife or simply enjoy the natural beauty of this majestic area until it is time to return. Let us go, students!”

Remy made his way into the shop in his usual manner (with lockpicks if Harley had remembered to lock the place up) and took a leisurely tour around to see if there was anything new or interesting on display.

. . . One of the decided fake-looking (but pretty!) gems was faintly glowing.

He watched it for several moments, trying to decide what to do about it. Should he pick it up? Ignore it? Was this a potential launching mechanism of a plotline adventure? Or a trap laid by a fiend?

. . . You know what? He didn't have the X-men's idiot ball right now, so he was just going to go ahead and leave that alone. Let someone else deal with the consequences of poking strange, glowing rocks.

He did put the entire counter of costume jewelry on sale, though. Just in case.

Hey there, Fandom. It's me, ya girl, Arden Finch, bringing you all of yesterday's hottest gossip that's fit for drunken rodents to write down. Gonna be zipping through the notes today because I've somehow managed to spill tea all over this shirt, too, making me zero for two in the 'keeping shirts clean' category.

Classes started up again at School, starting with Teamwork Part 2, Matrimonial Boogaloo had introductions, followed by a game of telephone. Dean Skywalker was a cat in 2 Problem, 2 Creative, but that didn't stop Professor Tano from having introductions and asking about people's homework from over break. That's just cruel. How To Waste Time On The Internet talked about what their favorite time wasting websites are - TikTok, obviously. You're gonna go over TikTok, right Professor? And Lady Ghanima welcomed everybody to Destiny and Free Will by starting off with philosophical arguments. Oof! Pretty heavy for a first day!

Dorms were 2 Quiet, 2 Empty 4 Notes, so onto Town we go! At the Perk, Jack spilled coffee all over his shirt, too. I feel comforted. Professor Vess was playing the lyre in the Infinite Consortium, and she and Professor Scientia talked about her home, but exactly what they said is still being blacked out by the squirrels for...whatever reason. Turtle and Canary was celebrating National Bubbly Day, while Professor Smith was busy with some last minute preparations. Vi was a person again at the Magpie Emporium, much to Saffron's delight, and Professor Argentum was stocking novelty shirts to sell. In the Clinic, the crab was reading a mystery murder thriller, hopefully for entertainment and not notes. And Raiden hopefully spent the day resting on his laurels at Pizza Planet for Sunday's resounding success.

And--BLEEP! I just got vodka on my pants, thanks squirrels. Now I definitely need to go back and change so I don't smell like a distillery all day. So this is ya girl, Arden Finch, signing off. Have a great rest of your day, Fandom, and enjoy Dove Cameron's newest single, Too Much.

Turns out today was the kind of day where Gladio would be running circles, but not on the track at the gym or a treadmill. He was almost inclined to think today was one of those days were the phones were messing up, with how much difficulty he was having trying to get a hold of someone to come check out the washers they used for the towels around the gym, because they just weren't working.

So probably a good thing that the pool didn't get much use, but of course there was a scheduled gremlin synchronized swimming group in later today....

He was going to give it a few more tries, and if he still failed to get a hold anyone, he supposed he'd just have to call in Prompto.

Not exactly cars or guns or computers, but it would be worth a try.

He was admittedly increasingly intrigued, though, and would be joining his fiancée later, after his shift, for a taste of what the city might have to honor.

Until then? A specials board clearly inspired by Raiden's grand opening of his new brunch spot and anticipating with amusement the tension that was likely to come from the kitchen when they started to realize that all their usual bets were going to be completely thrown today, and he suspected he'd be able to pick up on at least a few murmuring of confused speculation that would just make his coffee that much better.

It was more annoying when she realized she didn't out the lid on the blender all the way and it popped off, covering herself and Tino in attempted margarita. Y'all. I have gotten two hours of sleep tonight and I'm supposed to wake up in an hour and a half so things are not going as planned. So I came up with questions. We last did this in October.

Pose a question (or as many as you'd like, and they don't all have to be in one comment, so you can come back later and add more if you want) to your fellow students, teachers, townies, alumni and expatriates, and they will answer them. These are IC questions and IC answers and should be truthful! They can be personal or silly. You don't have to answer all of them! Nothing counts in game, of course.

So, for example, I'd ping in with a question like 'Are you in love? If so, with who? If not, why not?' And people ping in under me and answer that question. There's no latesies on this, because of the format, so people can ping in at their leisure. And ANYONE can ask questions!

Keep checking throughout the day for more questions!

Ghanima was already in the classroom as the students assembled, bouncing Trebor on her lap and holding a steaming mug of spiced coffee in one hand, as she subjected each person to an apparently disinterested inspection from her glowing blue-on-blue eyes.

Not even another Truthsayer would have been able to tell what she was thinking.

The moment the bell rang, her eyes snapped from her son to the assembled students. "Good afternoon," she said in a clear voice that carried effortlessly. "This is Destiny and Free Will. If you are in the wrong class, please consider this your opportunity to leave. Although if you are here and believe in fate, then you are where you are supposed to be, no matter what it says on your schedule. And, quite possibly, even if you do not believe"

"Regardless of your views on the matter, I am Lady Ghanima Atreides of the planet Arrakis, a time and place far from here. This fine young man," she set down her coffee to hold up a laughing Trebor, "Is my son, Trebor, First Scion of the House of Atreus."

"I do not answer to 'Lady Atreides,' as that is my grandmother. Ghanima is fine, though if you are one of those who is uncomfortable without an honorific, 'Professor' or 'Miss' is acceptable. Trebor answers to Trebor, or Teddy, if he listens. For those of you whom I have had in class before," she smiled suddenly, looking far less severe. "Welcome back."

"This class is designed to look at the differing opinions on predestination and freewill from a variety of religious, temporal, and philosophical schools of thought," she continued. "Regardless of any personal experiences you may have had on this topic, I expect everyone to maintain a respectful and open mind towards the subject matter and your classmates. Mocking destiny is a dangerous pastime, and not one I will permit during class hours. What you do on your own time, however, is your business."

"There is no syllabus, because to have one would tell you when a class is fated to fall. Or perhaps it is free choice which allows me to not have one." Ghanima's smile was decidedly impish. "For now, I'd like us to discuss as a group if you believe in destiny, free will, or neither, and why."

Jon stood in front of the class and gave them a firm (and only slightly awkward) nod.

"Apparently the way to get the moose to approve my courses is to offer ridiculous things. So, welcome to How to Waste Time on the Internet." He sighed.

"The truth is, there are any number of ways to do that. Most of the internet is one huge waste of time, albeit some parts more interesting and informative than others. But today we're wasting time by introducing ourselves. So, give us your name, how experienced you are or are not with the internet, and if you have one, your favorite time-wasting method involving it. I am Jonathan Sims, I've got about an average amount of experience, which is to say I've been using it since I was in school but I'm still constantly finding ways to be appalled by it, and my favorite method of wasting time involving it is probably cat videos."

He nodded to the first student. "Your turn."

Prompto was always trying to think of ways to help make that bottom line here at the Photo Hut a little better, not so much because he was worried about things like money...well, not with the PH, anyway, because he knew Bloom had that covered, but let's not get into the slight panic he frequently felt regarding his ever-growing family expenditures...but just because he wanted the place to do well in general, and, okay, okay, if it did well, then it would impress the Prof and that was also pretty important to him.

So he was pretty excited when a box of things he ordered finally arrived that morning, and he could spend his day at down in the Hut trying to figure out the best way to display them. It was just a small collection, at first, a few photography-related T-shirts that he'd found cool or relatable, inspirational or funny, or....

Huh.

He didn't remember ordering this one, and, with cheeks going fairly pink, he debated on whether or not to display that one, too. This was, after all, a family business.

For now he had the usual coffees (all iced today) for the nurses and himself and some cookies he'd baked over the weekend for sharing.

The clinic was open, the crab was reading about murders (which was not at all worrisome, of course), and the alien was in.

Once again, it seems all the news is confined to a single locale, and that is the grand opening of Raiden's new establishment Over Easy, which my note states is open from 7 until 3, seven days a week, and offers all your breakfast and, er, 'brunch' favorites- in addition to bottomless brunch cocktails on the weekends- *squirrel chittering* Well, I don't know what else you expected me to do with a note that you handed me except read it. How was I supposed to know that was a draft of an advertisement you were hoping to collect payment for?

Moving on, the inaugural brunch was attended by Miss Skywalker, with whom Raiden discussed his reasons for opening the restaurant and also convinced her to give a Bellini a try. What's a- oh, that does sound interesting. I'll have to try one. Stark was also in attendance, and declined the crabcake benedict on account of the fact that one of his coworkers was a crustacean and thus it felt a little odd to him. Miss Zarrin the Elder as well as Miss Zarrin the Younger were educated regarding the difference between a mimosa and a Bellini, and decided to get one of each and try each others. Clever. Miss Vess stopped in as well, ordering one of each of the specials and a lesson on what the seven deadly sins were. Mr. Scientia had words to say regarding his fiancée's overly sugar-laden breakfast choices, but it seems there were no hard feelings as the conversation soon 'devolved into makeouts'. Miss Finch came by for brunch and possibly landed herself a job? At the very least, she did ask Raiden if he needed assistance with anything, before catching him up on how she'd been spending her summer so far. And the aforementioned Mr. Scientia discussed Raiden's need to branch out from pizza, hence the opening of this new restaurant. *more squirrel chittering* No, I'm not sending him an invoice for the airtime. Don't be ridiculous.

That's all, everyone. Until next week.

You know, the funny thing about taking a vacation was how, usually, the days leading up to that vacation quickly devolved into the kind of days that made you need that vacation the most. Granted, Summer was well aware of the fact that the store could manage to take care of itself just fine, more often than not, somehow, but there were still things to do be done to make sure they ran smoother and that she didn't come back to a complete chaotic mess or disaster or a new file of cheese panda assaults to add to the record.

If she even came back, that was. After all, unless Ravnica ended up being a total and complete unmitigated disaster...

Summer looked up, squinting at the speakers, which seemed to interrupt the innocuous smooth grocery store jazz with an ominous musical sting.

"Very funny," she murmured, intent to get back to her ordering and emails to let people know she'd be out on vacay for a couple of weeks, only to have Apu hand something over to her that also had her squinting, only this time at the flute of champagne he was handing her.

"Wait, is this to celebrate the fact that you don't have to deal with me for a little while?" she asked.

He said it was a belated National Bubbly Day celebration, but she did not believe him.

And oh hey! There was a pretty great sale on VCRs today, too! Look. Turtle & Canary was dedicated to its commitment to serving people from all places and time periods!

As had been the case last session, there were two elaborate gold coloured chairs at the front of the classroom. Unlike last session, there was a very grumpy looking cat in the larger chair.

"Welcome to class," a decidedly non feline Ahsoka greeted them. "Master Skywalker is indisposed right now, but we won't let that get in the way of our first class.

"Now, those you who were in our previous class were given some homework to do over the break, Namely to find the saddest thing to do in a midlife crisis. for the sake of those who are new this session," And for everyone who just hadn't done it. "You'll have ten minutes to come up with something before presenting your homework with the rest of the class."

After everyone had made up presented their homework, Ahsoka continued. "The first class in usually for introductions, so what better way to introduce yourselves than by coming up with a mantra to live life by, the most original mantra wins."

It was, of course, the fault of her upcoming class. She had Dominaria on the brain and such things lingered close. Her notes were all in Benalish, she'd woken up craving phelddagrif steaks - oooh, and a side of fried saproling - with her eggs, and here at the Consortium, she found herself playing old songs on her lyre. No, not just playing, but absently singing along as her mind traveled distant paths back to a music room, bright with sunlight, a dark-haired woman playing the lap-harp and harmonizing with her eldest daughter...

Eventually something would happen to break the spell, but until then, the Consortium was filled with music in a language that Liliana hadn't heard another person speak in nearly two hundred years.

You know, in spite of all of Jack's concerns and trepidation, the past week had actually been pretty good. Not just the weekend - a show in England, followed by seeing the show in England, he was pretty sure getting everyone in to that had earned him points for life - but even all the stuff back home before it.

And then he'd decided to take a quick trip over to the island to check on things. Maybe run a cheap load of laundry. Except that hadn't worked, so now he was stuck with a hotel room full of dirty t-shirts and a sense of impending dread.

"Are you sure you need caffeine right now?" the barista asked him, as she shoved his giant coffee in his direction.

"I think caffeine is at the top of my pyramid of needs right now," Jack informed her. "... Or, wait, isn't that the bottom? How does that thing work anyway?"

"Please just go drink your coffee."

"Ugh," Jack muttered, glancing down at his shiny new Black Sabbath t-shirt. "How does this already have a stain on it?!"

Ravenous paparazzi. The lot of you. Fine. Steve and I were on our way to adopt a dog and he turned into a dog. It was very ironic. Oh! another note! Okay, now there is news. Luma had an unhappy time at the Perk, but hopefully she's feeling better now. But, if you'll excuse me, there's brunch.

Hey, guess what, Fandom? There was a new restaurant in town!

No, not the Waffle House, although hopefully it would come around again soon. Raiden would never regret the competition.

This was Over Easy, a breakfast and brunch spot where Goodvalor's Little Bivoli used to be, open from 7-3 seven days a week and offering all your breakfast and brunch favorites (plus bottomless brunch cocktails on the weekends)! And today there was a giant OPEN NOW sign out front, plus balloons, while inside a jazz band had been hired to make their grand opening celebration a jazz brunch.

And Raiden was here, too, of course, giving last minute instructions and worrying, "Do we have enough eggs? I know how many eggs we have. I know it's a lot of eggs. But is it enough?"

Specials
Crab Cake Benedict
Bananas Foster French Toast
Cheesecake Stuffed Waffles with Berry Syrup

Luma's search of the island for a Boc-scented tree had turned up futile, which made her equal parts frustrated and sad, especially since, when she told Eleanor, her sister was just sort of apathetic about ot all, saying that sometimes around here, people just did that, leaving unexpectedly. She'd had it happen before, with classmates, roommates, friends...

But Luma had never dealt with loss well. She'd always had so little, and yet still had lost so much. Arthur, Rhys, her father, grandparents, even Eleanor (especially Eleanor)...so while she and Boc hadn't been all that really close, it still felt like a deep cut, leaving her feeling....anxious. And angry. Inconsolable. All sorts of things she never really learned how to handle well.

The forlorn howling late a night from the woods, then, could be traced back to her, and she'd slept in late, only to drag herself out for at least one modern thing the island had to offer her to make her feel a little bit better, even if momentarily: a big blended mocha frappicinno from the Perk, and a big sticky cinnamon roll to go along with it.

It was only helping marginally, but it would just have to do, for now.

No, you could have left me there. I was very comfortable where I was.

*snickering*

Oh, shut up. I would have come in here eventually. I’m allowed to sleep later sometimes. Especially if I’ve had a late night. You did not need to come downstairs to get me out of her bed!

*chittering*

It’s a complicated situation. Hush. Let’s just get on with it, please. Nothing from the school and nothing from the dorms but a couple of notes from the town and of course Steve’s birthday party.

Liz was at the Photo Hut working on spreadsheets and paperwork. Luma was at Pixie Dust wondering about Boc’s absence. I hope he’s all right.

And then the party which had plenty of food and drinks, of course and Steve had a bit of everything and reminded Tony he needed to eat too and that he was going to put so many things in the chocolate fountain. There was also dancing, and fireworks that weren’t really fireworks because they were drones, and then there were the guests.

Summer had a very nice firework dress and Tony told her she’d started a party trend and that Steve had to be convinced to have a party and they discussed his birthday next year. Steve was happy to see her and told her how I was doing radio today so they discussed jello so I had something to talk about. Thank you? Maybe? And I admired Summer’s dress and she liked my shirt and I asked her to dance.

Kitty was dressed in blue and she and Steve discussed how old Steve is and he isn’t sure but 30-something. I’m not sure either. Tony was pleased that Kitty was there and admiring his chandeliers.

Liliana had a new outfit, a suit, and Tony joked about the two of them running away together and…things that likely don’t need to be repeated on here. Steve surprised her with a hug and they also talked about Steve’s confusing age. I complimented her suit and we discussed upcoming classes. Don was also appreciative of her new outfit though somewhat formal about it.

I had a new shirt and Steve and I discussed the importance of cake and pie. But Tony may have cursed the island. If something happens soon it’s his fault. Remember that.

Ignis was there with Liliana who was describing the chandeliers and outfits for him. Tony and Ignis discussed differences in holidays and Steve and Ignis talked about birthdays coinciding with holidays.

Don arrived, discussed age confusion, and Don sang to him. Tony may have encouraged another song from Don.

Miss Lydia Bennet was there in a red evening gown and Steve encouraged her to see some fireworks tonight. Tony was glad to see her without any drunken squirrels demanding they perform for them. I understand this feeling. I could still be in bed…

Right. Nevermind. Raiden brought Gray with him but Gray was asleep. Steve pointed out a place to let Gray sleep and that there was a burger bar while Tony offered to get pillows and save some food.

After Don had left Thor arrived to wish Steve a happy birthday and to discuss eating all the desserts and Tony told him he was just in time to help transport the cake. Hopefully he got to eat some as well.

That’s all from the party and from Thursday at all.

*chittering*

No, I don’t need to tell anyone what I was doing after the party and neither do you. Hush.

I imagine I will be back to doing this on Wednesday again next week. Probably. Who knows. Until then, be careful of exploding things today and enjoy the holiday if it is one that you celebrate.

Hello, Fandom! Are you feeling nice and secure on your weirdness-free island? Well, too bad. Because from Monday, July 7th, through Friday, July 11th, Fandom is experiencing a LAUNDRY STRIKE.

That means that none of the washers or dryers will work all week - while temperatures rise and the amount of Clothing Incidents (tm) increase rapidly. Yes, there will be random mud pools around the island, and flocks of birds with GI problems, and - of course - the pizza is extra drippy this week.

And just to improve everyone's tempers, Friday night will see an island-wide fire drill. (Posted in the AM on Friday, so everyone can play all day.) Hope you still have some decent PJs left, everyone.

We've had this discussion before.

*chittering*

It's not 'totally different' if you're 'just storing them'. No fireworks inside the station. If you really want to explode yourselves, do it outside. After you give me the notes.

Let's see, no classes of any kind up at the School, though it was a beach day in the Library, much to Cal and Gray's confusion when they came by to visit Arden.

The Dorms were quiet. Again. While in Town, Adrian was convinced he was being watched at Pick Your Poison, I'd suggest it was paranoia, but I do have all these notes about Rey trying to help him, and Lydia also making an appearance. Speaking of appearances, Raiden was all over the streets hanging up flyers for his new breakfast place. Finally, it was something of a mango theme at Caritas, though sadly, Tino was not a man gone. Summer texted, while Stark was glad Anakin had taken the week off, and Rey was asked for 'jello life choice opinions'.

*muffled explosions*

Outside the station, not outside the booth.

"No Boc today?"

Luma frowned a little when she came in to work that day; she was used to catching the little demi-human in the morning, before he scampered off to his Breakfast class, but since they were between classes, she was sort of looking forward to getting to spend a little more time with him. Yes, sure, she teased him an awful lot because he was just so skittish and frightened of nearly everything, but she liked him, and they could talk about embroidery and sewing and things like that and she found where he was from, based on what he'd shared with her, fascinating. And it was just nice, really, to have someone so clearly not entirely human, like herself, to just exist with.

So she was disappointed that he'd already apparently gone out, but then the other clerk mentioned that they hadn't actually seen him all week. When the concern deepened on her face, though, they reassured her that he'd probably just turned into a tree in the woods again.

Apparently, that was a thing he just did sometimes??

But Luma was still suspicious and worried, so she supposed she was going to be spending some time later to see if she could sniff out a Boc-scented tree. Would he smell different? She supposed she'd find out, but, as it were, even if she did work well enough while she was there today, she was distracted most of the time.

The ballroom was all done up in appropriately red, white, and blue bunting. Because bunting felt very Steve if you asked Tony. And Tony was the one picking the decorations for this one. Sorry, Steve.

There were a few fireworks themed chandeliers set up in the center of the room to drive home the celebration as well. And a wide selection of foods that Steve liked most. So all the foods. It was all the foods, but straight-forward stuff (burger bar, taco bar, hot dog bar, ice cream sundae bar with a chocolate fountain (because who didn't want a chocolate fountain on their birthday?)), and not appetizer portions. And pie! Either because Steve liked pie or because Tony thought it was hilarious.

Or both.

And after all of that, there would be a birthday cake with a truly obnoxious number of candles and a 'fireworks' show that was visible from the ballroom windows if you didn't want to brave a trip to the roof. It was actually a drone show because Tony was Tony. And the noise would be something else if they did actual fireworks.

After the last couple of weeks, Liz had been able to get a somewhat decent amount of sleep. She was still a bit tired but was feeling a lot better as she came downstairs to try and get some work done after not getting as much finished over the last couple of weeks. Since she had to work on setting up spreadsheets and reports for the month and answer a few emails, she was managing to stay focused and quite busy for that morning.

Summer was already feeling a little restless that week, as one might expect when one had a RageFest sized carrot dangled in front of them on the way to a new possible business prospect, and it really didn't help that Tino, although he didn't say anything, was giving her a look as she set up her specials board that week.

"What?" she said. "We had a lot of mango at the store this week! You think I'm happy about that? I don't even like mango all that much!"

And now Tino was really looking at her like she was crazy.

With fliers, as was traditional, which was why Raiden could be found around town on Wednesday morning putting those fliers up, and occasionally pausing to dither over whether he'd put them at an appropriate eye level for someone who wasn't approximately the size of a commercial fridge.

Good morning, everyone, it's Captain Steve Rogers a few days early. Stark--the other Stark--was unavailable today.

Since it's a break week, we're pretty quiet on the island and I can assure you that the park is safe to walk through today. We didn't have classes yesterday, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone back at paintball next week!

In town, Liliana was at the diner for her weekly--

*chittering*

--I am not calling it a "booty call." Her lunch date with Ignis. Stark asked Gladio at the gym for hobby ideas--Tino at Caritas' new hobby is apparently blending things--and gardening is always a good choice too. Pam was helping her plants get through the heat wave. Jaina was in the Perk drinking coffee and reading and both of those would also be hobbies, though in my household drinking coffee is more of a personality trait than a hobby.

Party planning could also be a hobby, and so I hope you all can make it to my party tomorrow. Tony's really gone to a lot of effort for it. Have a great day!

Adrian peered cautiously into the store, trying to find any hint of...weirdness. No decorations that he could see, nothing singing annoying songs, no random bags of chips tucked away anywhere.

Or, well, none of those things right now.

He moved inside, carefully, step by tentative step, head on a swivel. So far...so good...?

Nothing on his way through the aisles. Nothing as he stepped behind the register.

Nothing at all.

Nothing. At. All.

But during his shift, why did it feel like someone watching him?

There was a weird beach tableau happening in the library today. Books - beach reads, obviously - were lounging around, while Beach Boys played from some portable speakers. Some books rested on towels, some wear floaties around their covers, a few are clustered around a couple of different coolers. Arden had no idea of what could even be in those coolers. What snacks and beverages would books even bring to the beach?

Not curious enough to actually tread into their space, mind.

At least not until she saw a pair of books with a bottle of suntan lotion between them, the paper cover pulled slightly askew. "Okay, absolutely not!" she called. "We do not put lotion onto the books!"

Jaina had mixed feelings about the fact that they were still here. She didn't mind it. The kids were having fun, Jag wasn't as stressed, she didn't have to deal with the Empire. But this wasn't normal life, either.

Plus there was still a threat out there, and Jaina wasn't getting annoyed that she wasn't aware of any progress on that. Maybe she needed to make a visit. If she was the target of anything, good luck to them, so she wasn't worried about that. And in the meantime she'd take some time at a table with coffee and a datapad to check over some reports on what was going on over there.
